Description
Summary:Oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF), is a potentially malignant disease prevalent in the Asian population. The disease's pathogenesis is complex, associated with factors such as areca nut chewing, nutritional deficiencies, and genetic predisposition. This case report highlights a distinctive aspect: the development of OSMF linked conspicuously to tamarind seed consumption. Oral physicians must recognize this novel etiological factor in OSMF and include it in their diagnostic considerations. This report underscores the significance of raising awareness about the potential role of tamarind seed in OSMF development, emphasizing the necessity for further research to elucidate its exact mechanism.
