Summary: | In this article, a compact and broadband microstrip line (MSL)-to-rectangular waveguide (RWG) transition using the double-sided parallel stripline (DSPSL) integrated with the asymmetric quasi-yagi antenna (AQYA) is proposed. The transition has a compact size of less than a quarter wavelength since it can be directly fed through the DSPSL. Besides, the transition has a broadband response for which the reflection coefficient is smaller than −20 dB all over the whole X-band (8.2-12.4 GHz). Furthermore, it is discovered that the MSL's packaging will significantly influence the performance of the transition and should be appropriately designed to ensure a broadband response. |
