Description
Summary:The goal of this project is to use a conical pick to accomplish a linear coal cutting operation. Conical picks are used to extract coal from mines. It is divided into two zones, hardened steel body and abrasive cemented carbide tip. For coal cutting purpose, shaper machine was used in this study. The linear cutting was done at various tilt angles of the conical pick. Total quantity of removed-coal was collected, and the tool-tip temperature was recorded after each slot of cutting performed at various depths of cut. In the present work, the combined multiple criteria decision-making method (MCDM) was applied for selection of an optimum tilt angle for above stated two criteria. MCDM, which is a combination of AHP and TOPSIS methods, was explained comprehensively and it was applied for given experiment.
