Summary: | The COVID-19 pandemic began in early 2020, and a year later there is already a lot of linguistically oriented literature on the subject online. Here, the ability to publish faster online than in print pays off immediately. This may, but does not necessarily, mean that some contributions are more ephemeral sketches, while others point the way for more intensive research. This type of online scholarship chronologically precedes the canonizing sequence of journal scholarship, handbook scholarship, and textbook scholarship, as Ludwik Fleck (1980: 148–164) describes it. In spring 2021, however, some articles are already available whose quality is fully equivalent to academic journal publications. |
