Description
Summary:In the program of linguistic discourse analysis, as first outlined by Busse in 1987 based on Foucault's concept of discourse (cf. Busse 1987), the question of empirical access to discourses and thus of methodological and methodological aspects arose in the 1990s: Under the title "Ist Diskurs ein sprachwissenschaftliches Objekt?" Busse and Teubert discussed the possibilities of combining discourse and corpus analysis in the early 1990s (cf. Busse/Teubert 1994). This programmatic article can be understood as a starting point for the establishment of a new research field under the term discourse linguistics, which is strongly characterized by the close connection between discourse and corpus linguistics (cf. Bubenhofer 2009, Busse/Teubert 2013), which enables empirical access to discourses using corpus linguistic methods.
