Summary: | Accidents occurring mainly due to careless driving of motorcycles have seen a sudden spike in the number. Such events may occur due to distractions, breaking of traffic laws, or rash driving. To prevent these mishaps, it is very important for the driver to take precautions on his/her end first. One of the prominent preventions is wearing a helmet. During an accident, it is important to save the most valuable part of our body i.e., the brain as it is the coordinator of all the organs which are important for our survival. In order to protect it on a priority basis, it is necessary to wear a helmet. A helmet not only protects the brain, but it also protects facial organs such as the mouth, nose, eyes, ears, etc., and reduces the risk of serious injuries. Still, many drivers ignore this fact and do not wear a helmet. To avoid such an issue, the paper introduces a technology that uses Deep Learning to allow the vehicle to start only and only if the driver wears a helmet. The system continuously monitors that the driver is occupied with a helmet by capturing videos continuously. The presented system makes use of OpenCV, pyFirmata, and YOLOv5. |
