Description
Summary:Utilization of local energy in meeting rural electricity needs, primarily from renewable energy, is a mandate of the Electricity Law. One of the abundant renewable energies in Papua is hydro energy, as evidenced by the potential for hydro energy in Papua which reaches 36 GW. The Mining and Energy Office of West Papua province has undertaken the preparation of a Feasibility Study for the Kali Ombak Micro-hydro Power Plant in Maybrat Regency due to the electrification ratio, which is still below the national average, and the inaccessibility of the PLN grid in the near future. The objectives of this research are to collect information for the construction of the Kali Ombak Micro-hydro Power Plant in Maybrat Regency and the investment cost needed. There is a novelty is the penstock passes over the river and not many constructions like this are found. The target is to have 3 villages with electricity, namely Kampung Seni, Kampung Kuroso, and Kampung Ossom with 102 potential beneficiaries of housing and public facilities. The stages in this feasibility study include desk studies and field surveys supported by topographic and hydrological surveys. With a head of 6.85 meters and a measured instantaneous discharge using a current meter of 2.2 m3/s and 0.8 m3/s, respectively, the potential power for generation is 35 kW. The investment cost for the construction of the Kali Ombak Micro-hydro Power Plant reaches Rp. 3,379,746,000 with the largest composition of civil works cost, which is 60.34%.
