Description
Summary:This study examines the relationship between Right-to-Work (RTW) laws and creativity. Using data from the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform for the period 2010-2019, we find that the number of projects launched, the probability of success, the average amount of capital pledged, and the average number of backers are all significantly higher in states without RTW laws than in states with RTW laws. This finding holds for both Art- and Product- focused projects. Thus, our findings are consistent with the view that states without RTW laws provide a better outlet for creativity than states with RTW laws.
