Finite Element Investigation on the Bearing Capacity of a Strip Footing in a c-φ Soil Over a Rigid Layer
In this paper, the impact of a rigid layer on the bearing capacity of a strip footing in cohesive and frictional soils is investigated. The presence of a rigid layer has been found to effectively reduce vertical displacements. However, the effect of a rigid layer on the ultimate bearing capacity of...

Summary: | In this paper, the impact of a rigid layer on the bearing capacity of a strip footing in cohesive and frictional soils is investigated. The presence of a rigid layer has been found to effectively reduce vertical displacements. However, the effect of a rigid layer on the ultimate bearing capacity of the strip footing is complex, particularly in cohesive soils. The finite element method is utilized to investigate the impact of soil strength and geometric parameters. Results indicate that variations in the bearing capacity to the depth of the rigid layer (
