Summary:Caneeracone A ( 1 ), a new chalcone derivative, together with three known compounds ( 2–4 ), was isolated from the seeds of Persea americana Mill. (buccaneer avocado). The structures of these compounds were established by spectroscopic methods including 1D and 2D NMR experiments. Compound 1 exhibited a potent tyrosinase activity with an IC 50 of 38.29 μM.
