Summary: | Objective: This article explores the role of radiosurgery in the treatment of brain metastases, evaluating its effectiveness in improving clinical outcomes and patient quality of life. Technical challenges and the need for advanced technologies and integrated policies to overcome implementation barriers are discussed. Interdisciplinary collaboration is highlighted as essential for optimizing therapeutic outcomes. Theoretical Framework: The effective application of radiosurgery in the treatment of brain metastases is crucial, given the increasing incidence of these lesions and their association with severe complications such as neurological deficits, cerebral edema, and deterioration in quality of life. Method: A narrative literature review was conducted using the major scientific databases to collect articles on the use of radiosurgery in the treatment of brain metastases. Key studies were evaluated to measure the effectiveness of this approach in treatment precision and the preservation of healthy brain tissue. Results and Discussion: The review revealed that radiosurgery in the treatment of brain metastases is effective in reducing neurological complications, improving patient survival and quality of life. Implementation barriers include limited access to advanced technologies and the management of patients with multiple brain lesions. To optimize treatment and outcomes, it is essential to improve access to specialized care, continuously train healthcare professionals, and develop integrated policies and innovative technologies, aiming for a more effective approach and the reduction of treatment-associated complications. |
