Summary:In January 2024, the European Commission (EC) launched a package of measures to support European small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups in the development of trustworthy Al, and in May, the EC established an AI Office (2,3). The European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) welcomes the AI Act and "believes in the potential of applying AI to deliver benefit for patients, life-science companies, and society" (7).
