Description
Summary:Background: Since 2011, the Lesbian and Gay Liberation in Canada project has sought to make the history of the LGBTQ2+ movement in Canada more accessible to a wide range of users. Analysis: We review approaches we have taken to further our vision, from digitization to graph databases, ontology development, and public engagement through Wikipedia edit-a-thons. Conclusions and implications: Having created a robust interface for sharing LGBTQ2+ history, we are able to focus our attention on building up publicly available information on marginalized communities, while also strategizing for the long-term sustainability of our project.
