Summary: | This semi-systematic review investigated the prevalence of long COVID and its impact on morbidity by measuring Years Lived with Disability (YLD) in India. The study involved comprehensive literature searches and rigorous screening of relevant studies. The results indicate an estimated 31.9% incidence of long COVID in COVID-19 infected patients in India. This incidence was then used to calculate an estimated 4,99,669 YLDs attributed to long COVID in the country. The study, despite its limitations, emphasizes need for better management strategies, healthcare planning, and continued research to address the persistent health effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. |
