Summary: | This article presents a dual-element multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna configuration tailored for 5G mobile networks in developing countries. The antenna’s patch is etched with two trapezoidal structures, broadening its suitability for a diverse array of use cases. Additionally, an improved design incorporates a defected ground to bolster isolation between the antenna elements, thus augmenting overall performance. Assessment of the antenna’s effectiveness encompasses metrics such as bandwidth, return loss, and physical dimensions. Simulation outcomes indicate robust antenna performance, demonstrating substantial alignment between actual observations and simulated results. The antenna elements exhibit strong isolation, surpassing -18 dB, and showcase an impressive total efficiency exceeding 90%. Remarkably, the proposed antenna features minimal envelope correlation coefficient (below 0.05) and an active reflection coefficient below 0 dB, rendering it especially suitable for military applications. Embedding a tapered ground plane within a decoupled conducting strip significantly mitigates coupling issues between patches. The bandwidth, ranging from 2 to 30 GHz, maintains isolation levels consistently below -19 dB across the operational frequency spectrum. The distinctive MIMO design boasts a compact structure with minimal separation between radiating patches. Evaluation of various MIMO antenna parameters - S-parameters, wave patterns, envelope correlation coefficient (ECC), diversity gain, mean effective gain (MEG), and total active reflection coefficient (TARC) - utilized HSFS Simulator. The proposed MIMO configuration proves optimal for diverse applications, including 5G and various wireless technology. |
