A pulse-width-modulation-based approach to eliminate inrush currents of switch-mode power supply

A PWM method was suggested to eliminate inrush currents in SMPS circuits by digitally controlling the voltage rise rate of the input capacitor. Once the capacitor voltage is fully charged, a bypass switch maintains high conversion efficiency. This PWM-SMPS, tested considering PVT variations, reduces...

Description
Summary:A PWM method was suggested to eliminate inrush currents in SMPS circuits by digitally controlling the voltage rise rate of the input capacitor. Once the capacitor voltage is fully charged, a bypass switch maintains high conversion efficiency. This PWM-SMPS, tested considering PVT variations, reduces inrush currents by 6Ă— compared to conventional methods with passive components, thus enhancing environmental suitability for SMPS applications.
