Summary: | Construction projects often go behind schedule. Concerns about delays might be addressed first by identifying their root causes. The purpose of structural equation modelling (SEM) is to identify causes of building delays and calculate their relative importance. There has to be a thorough investigation into what causes building delays in India since the sector has expanded rapidly in recent decades yet has often failed to meet deadlines. The analysis provides a clear picture of the interplay between the most important causes of delay, providing a solid basis for dealing with potential timetable slips in the future. This research established that SEM can quantify the whole set of interrelationships between the considered elements. In addition, SEM offers great potential for addressing problems associated with lack of expertise in the building industry. The Indian construction industry has created a theoretical structural equation model that captures the impact of four important latent factors on project delays. Survey data and in-depth interviews with 83 customers, contractors, and architects were utilised to refine the model’s definition and analysis. |
