Summary:Ginseng, a well-known medicinal plant with an ancient history that dates back centuries, has generated a lot of interest for its possible health advantages. The wealth of research on the herb ginseng and its numerous benefits to human wellbeing is summarised in this extensive overview. The highly valued medicinal herb ginseng, often know as “Nature’s Secret Elixir and it is been used for many years in traditional medicinal system, generally in the region of East Asia. Ginseng is a well-known natural treatment because of its many beneficial health effects. This medicinal plant has great importance to the peoples of America, China, Japan and Korea. The primary constituents that are responsible for the many pharmacological benefits of ginseng are called as ginsenosides, triterpene saponins. There are more than 60 different ginsenosides known, and each one has unique biological properties. It assists the capacity of the body to recover from stress. It is suggested that it improves the body resistance to ecological, emotional, and physiological strain. This article discusses the many beneficial health effects of the herb ginseng such as its ability to strengthen the body’s immune system, control inflammatory conditions, promote physical activity, and improve cognitive abilities. In addition, ginseng supports the management of stress, anxiety, and chronic illnesses like cancer, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Ginseng is used in treatment of cancer, weight management, liver protection, digestive health cultivation, antioxidant and also used in cosmetics externally. The review also emphasises ginseng species, active ingredients, history, and collection.
