Summary: | This experimental research work examined the impact of incorporating copper slag (CS) as a substitute material for natural sand (NS) in concrete mix design on material’s mechanical qualities. Eight concrete mixtures with CS concentrations for the control mix i.e 0% to 100% were casted. Compressive, split tensile, flexural strengths and workability of concrete mixes were investigated. According to the findings, workability significantly increased as the copper slag content increased. Natural sand replacement by CS up to 60% produced strength comparable to the control mix. The mixes that replaced copper slag by 80% and 100% had the lowest compressive strength values. According to the findings, copper slag gives natural sand a 30% replacement rate that maximizes flexural, split tensile and compressive strength. For concrete to be made with good strength, it is recommended to use 30% of copper slag as natural sand. |
