Description
Summary:The occurrence of structural failure in the building occurs due to changes function of a building, the age of the building, errors in the initial design, which were weak or did not meet the safety factor of a building. Reinforcement is needed to increase the strength and stability of the existing structure. The purpose of this study is to compare the strength of the slab before and after reinforcement in order to ascertain the impact of adding external reinforcement (ER) to the slab. A further goal of this research is to calculate the precast slabs’ ductility following reinforcing. Seven slabs were utilised as specimens. Two slabs measuring 40 cm by 80 cm by 5 cm, three pieces measuring 40 cm by 100 cm by 5 cm, and two pieces measuring 40 cm by 120 cm by 5 cm are present. The experiment demonstrated that following strengthening, the slab’s ultimate load increased but its ductility decreased.
