Summary:By condensation of 1-(4-alkoxyphenyl)ethanones with aromatic aldehydes in the presence of sodium hydroxide in an aqueous-ethanol solution, (2 E )-3-aryl-1-(4-alkoxyphenyl)prop-2-ene-1-ones were obtained. Cyclization of these latter with phenylhydrazine in an acidic medium leads to the corresponding 5-aryl-3-(4-alkoxyphenyl)-1-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1 H -pyrazoles. The luminescent, antimonoamine oxidase, and antioxidant properties of the compounds obtained were studied.
