The collaboration networks among countries, institutions, and authors emphasized the need for enhanced international and regional partnerships. Sustainability was identified as the most influential journal in the field. Cluster content analysis explored AI's impact, pinpointing research hotspots in global higher education. Future directions include AI-VR integration, sentiment analysis for educational improvement, predictive student performance models, and enhancing academic integrity. This study offers critical insights for guiding AI applications in higher education, benefitting researchers and practitioners.
