Summary:An abstract of a study by Fidalgo-Cordova et al establishing baseline body image and weight control behaviors of public school children from third to sixth grades is presented. They conclude that girls selected a bigger body as their body but they wanted to be thinner. Most girls worried that they were overweight and were trying to lose weight. The children engaged in dietary intake restrictions and exercises to lose weight.
