Summary: | Reviews the book, Current Trends in the Description and Analysis of Behavior by Robert Glaser et al (see record 2007-02235-000). This book reports nine lectures delivered under the auspices of the Department of Psychology in the College of the University of Pittsburgh. All the lecturers present a description and analysis of behavior-some behavior- but not all of them seem to be under compulsion to speak to the methodological trends or breakthroughs in their selected areas of interest, and all areas of interest in psychology are not represented Such is perhaps the necessary fate of a book of printed lectures, when the lecturers are given maximum freedom of topical development. The reviewer has no doubt that each of these individual lectures will be read by some psychologists with great interest, but no psychologist should buy or begin to read this book with the notion that he is to be instructed in all of the significant trends in the description and analysis of behavior as they occurred in 1955-1956, or even in the most significant trends.
