Description
Summary:Reviews the book, Behavioral Pharmacology by Travis Thompson and Charles R. Schuster (see record 1968-35032-000). The authors have tried to provide a systematic introduction to, and delineate the principles and techniques of both pharmacology and the experimental analysis of behavior, especially for the student or scientist who is trained in only one of these disciplines. Such an attempt in 229 pages of text will obviously not please everyone in terms of completeness, but it is a useful introductory book. This book is not a detailed review of the confused experimental literature of behavioral pharmacology. It is, rather, a prescription for a specific philosophy and technique of drug research. Given our present state of ignorance on the interaction of drugs and behavior, it may be just what the doctor ordered. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
