Summary: | Discusses the inadequacies of the Dewey's decimal system of classification. Emphasizes the need for a new scheme, to satisfy both logical demands of the classifier and the practical one of the psychologist. Discusses the present scheme which is a compromise between the Dewey's system and the plan on which psychological index is constructed. It simplifies and standardizes the work of the classifier and was adopted by the Columbia University Library. The plan of classification of the scheme has been provided. |
