Description
Summary:Reviews 11 studies on the effects of drugs on humans and animals (1914-1916). The stimulus threshold of the visual mechanisms is lowered by small doses of alcohol, while the difference threshold is raised. There has been an attempt to establish an association type for alcoholics. Rats who had been fed alcohol took a longer time in the maze and made more mistakes, than the normal rats. It was found that strychnine in large doses facilitates learning, while caffeine retards learning. The nerve centers differed in the extent and the speed with which they adapted to morphine.
