Summary: | Studied changes in blood pressure as a result of mental processes. Describes an experiment conducted on a 23 yr old S. Two methods were used to measure pressure: (1) by varying the pressure by sudden jumps, and (2) by slow changes. In the second method a differentiation of the counter pressure was established to determine the effect of mental calculations on blood pressure. The results show that a pressure of 100-120 mm completely suppressed the pulsation of a state of repose as against a state of intellectual labor. A counter test was conducted to reconfirm that constant pressure should lie between 100-120 mm. Concluded that a change in the amplitude of the pulsation of people is a result of their physiological condition. |
