Description
Summary:Although the Design Fluency Test (DFT) has been used frequently in neuropsychological research, no studies have examined the interrater reliability of the scoring criteria based on the original description of the test. Eighty normal adult volunteers received the standard administration of both conditions of the DFT. Two raters independently scored protocols according to the original DFT scoring criteria. Although raters differed with respect to their scoring leniency, they tended to preserve the same rank order of subjects based on error frequency. Good to excellent consistency coefficients were obtained for both conditions, suggesting that relatively good reliability may be obtained on the DPT with the original scoring instructions, provided that multiple raters are used to independently score the test. However, in light of this scoring limitation, the test may be of limited clinical use without better scoring instructions and more extensive scoring training.
