Summary:As the percentage of ethnic and racial minorities continues to increase in this country, adequate responses must be made to meet the psychological needs of this growing and diverse population. The aims of this article are to discuss factors that influence the process and outcome of psychotherapy with cultural minorities and to explore strategies for assisting therapists in conceptualizing client problems and treatment strategies within a sociocultural framework. Case illustrations are utilized to provide recommendations for therapists working with cultural minorities.
