Summary: | Data from a study with 15 male advanced graduate student-therapists and male outpatient clients clearly reveal that differences in A-B status of therapist and client had an impact on the therapeutic relationship as reflected by process measures of the relationship. However, contrary to the "similarity hypothesis," dissimilarity in A-B scores was associated with more positive ratings of the therapeutic relationship by both clients and objective raters.
