Description
Summary:Reviews the book, Psychology and Profits by Donald A. Laird . The spirit of this book is as if it is written for the executive who needs psychology --he wants answers to his human problems, psychological answers, and answers he can understand. He wants common-sense practical psychology, and here it is. Effective anecdotal illustrations abound. Here and there definite results of psychological research are thrown in. The executive's attention is called entertainingly to the importance of selecting men with ability, arranging working conditions conveniently, and improving work methods. All this material is discussed in a way that reflects intimate contact with business managers and their problems. While psychologists may question the desirability of the thing attempted, as does the reviewer, that need not bother Professor Laird or those businessmen who find the book entertaining, enlightening, or stimulating.
