Description
Summary:This issue marks the debut of a new editorial team for Professional Psychology: Research and Practice (PPRP). We bring with us the enthusiasm and commitment to make PPRP the most relevant and useful journal that it can be for psychologists in professional practice and for educators of the next generation of psychology practitioners. Professional Psychology: Research and Practice tries to fill the void between psychological research findings and the application of that research in professional practice. PPRP seeks several different types of manuscripts. First, there are reports of original research that have relevance for professional practice and may come from any subfield of psychology. Second, there are reviews of the existing literature that draw out recommendations for work with different clinical issues or client populations. Third, there are reports of projects, case examples, or concepts developed by practitioners in the field who, through their experience and in their roles as "local clinical scientists," have developed productive ways for intervening with various client populations. The educators of professional psychologists also have critically important information to share with their colleagues. Professional psychology will remain a strong and viable profession if it continues to address effectively those areas that are of concern to our society.
