Summary:This article describes federal initiatives from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) aimed at transforming mental health systems towards integration with primary care, discusses potential barriers to integration and how collaborators are thinking about overcoming these barriers, and shares success stories from two integration initiatives that have worked in a health plan in Colorado and an initiative in Canada.
