Accepting this re-figuration of medial and national boundaries, however, should not require literary scholars to account for every "messaging system" that past and present cultures have on offer-"paths and waterways, wampum, baskets, trail blazes, monuments, animal calls, medical rituals, African songs" and so forth. |
