Summary:An abstract of a study by Zabel et al detailing and illustrating the process used to plan the implementation of an electronic format using Nutrition Care Process (NCP) is featured. Phase 1 of the planning schedule began with designated leader-trainers learning the NCP format, designing a project timeline, and initiating staff training surrounding the NCP model in general and the Nutrition Diagnosis in particular. Phase 2 included adding a Nutrition Diagnosis section to the existing nutrition section and staff using it to type the Nutrition Diagnosis narrative in the PES format. In Phase 3, a core group of three dietitians and CNM was formed to design the incorporation of the assessment, intervention and monitoring/evaluation sections.
