Summary: | This mixed method study consisting of the distribution of surveys to 297 small and minority businesses that were successful contractors, lends support to the argument that the leadership styles of successful minority business entrepreneurs have significant influence over public contracting. A representative sample was selected with a plus or minus 5% margin of error. There were three nested factor models used in the study. The primary independent variables were task-oriented and relationship-oriented leader initiating structure and consideration behavior in formulating relationships, including task ambiguity. The primary dependent variables were task ambiguity and predicting business owners who win contracts. The study utilized a bivariate statistical test and a hierarchical logistic regression analysis. Consideration and Initiating Structure scales of the LBDQ XII with Task Ambiguity (TA) as the dependent variable each correlated separately resulting in a significant contribution to the study.
