Summary: | An abstract of a study by Copperman et al evaluating the feasibility and sustainability of a unique audiovisual curriculum-based physical activity program in augmenting conventional PE without increased school staff or facilities is presented. The Activity Works Program (AWP) is a classroom teacher delivered curriculum-compatible, reward-based activity program with 10 minute age appropriate graded physical activity segments delivered on DVDs and CDs. Results demonstrates that the AWP is acceptable to teachers, students and parents, and is feasible and effective in increasing access to and time spent in physical activity for elementary school students of diverse backgrounds. |
