Summary: | An abstract of a study by Adams et al explaining the scope of nutrition education modules and obtaining access information for providing this free resource to residents and fellows at their home institutions is presented. Although physicians agree that nutrition is an important component of modern medical practice, they do not have a high comfort level in conducting nutrition assessment and prescribing interventions. Lack of knowledge of nutrition guidelines, and especially how to apply those guidelines to a particular patient, is a critical barrier. To bridge the gap, the Nutrition in Medicine (NIM) project is developing a free, online, comprehensive nutrition curriculum for residents, fellows, and other practicing physicians. |
