Martin, and Andrew Worthington present their study, designed as an open-ended survey of preservice social studies teachers at two major research universities in the United States, to learn about teachers' views on the meaningfulness of the Pledge of Allegiance and its place in the public schools. The different papers of this issue address issues of global importance such as promoting inclusion while responding to the special needs of students, improving teacher participation in professional development, promoting student patriotism, and examining the benefits and implications of initiatives such as IB studies. |
