Summary: | As you are aware, many graduates of professional programs such as engineering, information technology, and related fields decide to join the workforce immediately after the completion of their first degree. Those, whose first degrees are in pure sciences, do also choose to continue their education at the graduate levels. Whatever your choice, it is important to weigh your options in terms of the cost of graduate education, additional years in school (and not earning a salary as a full time student), opportunities for advancement and promotion in the workplace due to advanced degrees, mobility, job portability, nature of the work, starting income and projected income path, prestige, and personal and family aspirations. |
