Summary:The present study seeks to extend our understanding of the effects of team charters by examining their impact on the process mechanism important to team performance. Using a sample of undergraduate students, in a team-based task requiring significant cooperative and coordinative behavior, we compare emergent team norms under a variety of team charter intervention conditions. Our results support the assertion that the introduction of team charters do, in fact, manifest in improved intermediary process outcomes, including communication, effort, mutual support and cohesion.
