Description
Summary:In an interview, Luis R. Gomez-Mejia, co-founder of the Iberoamerican Academy of Management, talked about his life in research. Gomez-Mejia went to school in Santo Domingo. He got his high school degree there, and he studied with the "Jesuits" at the "Loyola School". According to him, that is where his interest in becoming an academician began. Most of what they do in academia is really to persuade other people because there are many ways that they can look at the same issue. Gomez-Mejia thinks that if you are going to be productive in your career you eventually have to break through your narrow niche. Being narrow may be instrumental when you are starting out because you can efficiently use one hammer to do much of your research, but this can only go so far and then you need to broaden your interests if you are going to be productive in research during your life time.
