Description
Summary:Application of the second generation High Temperature Superconducting (HTS) YBCO tapes has been increasingly popular since the low-cost superconducting materials were discovered. This paper mainly presents the properties of two types of 2G YBCO tapes from American Superconductor Corporation (AMSC) and SuperPower, Inc, respectively. All superconducting materials are cooled by liquid nitrogen (77 K). At first, we will introduce the basic design strategy for synchronous motor and characteristics of superconducting materials. Then, the basic principle and algorithm for calculation and measurement of Ic and AC transport loss will be explained. Secondly, the novel measurement system using a high-precision digital lock-in amplifier is presented. Finally, we present and analyze simulation and experimental results for two types of YBCO tapes in bending condition.
