Description
Summary:The following topics are covered: wastewater treatment and public health; wastewater treatment in developing countries; biological contaminants in wastewater; chemical contaminants in wastewater; wastewater reuse for agricultural and landscape irrigation; and wastewater and sludge disposal. (2006) proposed an integrated risk assessment framework to assess hazards associated with onsite wastewater treatment systems (OWTS) such as septic tank - soil adsorption systems. (2006) estimated the attachment of fecal indicator bacteria to particles based on determination of the particle concentration, particulate organic carbon and nitrogen, and the partitioning of two indicators of fecal contamination (Enterococcus sp. and E. coli) in surface and bottom water samples collected in the Neuse River, North California.
