Summary: | Eurobarometer surveys on attitudes of the public towards climate change show that Slovenians are among the most concerned Europeans regarding this issue. The survey of Europeans' attitudes towards climate change in July 2009 indicated that people in Slovenia considered climate change to be the most serious problem the world was facing at the time. In the same month, preparatory to the Copenhagen conference, the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia adopted the Declaration on the active role of Slovenia in shaping the new global climate policy. In addition to establishing Slovenia's position in EU and global negotiations, the Declaration also sets out a series of policy priorities at the national level, such as "the preparation of a Climate Change Act and a National Climate Strategy, that will determine necessary mitigation and adaptation policies at all levels for the full transformation of Slovenian society into a low-carbon society |
