Description
Summary:Complications are typically a consequence of mass effect including cerebral edema leading to intracranial hypertension, papilledema, syringomyelia and eventually tonsillar herniation [4].2 Case report A 42 year old woman, born two months premature with approximate weight of two pounds and a noncontributory family history, presented to our general neurology clinic for second opinion after watching a TV show "Mysterious Diagnosis" about Segawa dystonia (juvenile dopa-responsive dystonia) to evaluate her longstanding dystonia, spasticity, and new onset tonic-clonic seizures. The CT (Fig. 2) showed progressive cysts, with local mass effect, and progressive bilateral diffuse coarse calcifications in the deep gray matter structures including bilateral thalami, basal ganglia, dentate nuclei, and superficial and deep white matter of the cerebral hemispheres.
