Description
Summary:The dependence of water density on temperature and salinity is nonlinear. This dependence is even non monotonic at atmospheric pressure if the salinity is less than 24.7. This peculiarity of water causes the effect that in oceanology is called densification during mixing or cabbeling [25]. This phenomenon implies that, when water masses with equal densi ties but different temperatures and salinities mix, the density of the mixture increases and prerequisites are formed for the development of convective instability. Submerging of a denser and heavy mixture leads to the formation of vertical fronts and large scale motion in large spatial domains.
