Summary:The main purpose of this article is to explore the emotional intelligence and social intelligence among excellent teachers of Islamic education in improving student's academic performance and personality. Qualitative methodology has been chosen as the study approach. In-depth interview was conducted with 15 excellent teachers from Islamic education background. This study was undertaken in urban and rural areas of Malacca, Negeri Sembilan and Perak. Results showed that excellent teachers played important role in improving academic performance and the personality of their students. Among the major challenges faced by Islamic education teachers were motivating student through spiritual and emotion touch. Their creativity and personality played an important part in improving student's academic performance. Implication of this research shows that student's academic performance and personality can be improved through Islamic education. Islamic education teacher must emphasise emotional and social intelligence skill so that teaching and learning process become more effective, fluent and able to attract students' interest and also enhance their academic performance and personality.
