Simple two-stage pulse compression for a SOA-based fiber ring
A semiconductor‐optical‐amplifier‐based fiber ring of two‐stage pulse compression, especially with exploitation of the LEAF fiber, is presented. A 10‐Gbps clock pulse recovery is induced by injecting optical NRZ data stream into a semiconductor‐optical‐amplifier‐based fiber ring. The recovered retur...

Summary: | A semiconductor‐optical‐amplifier‐based fiber ring of two‐stage pulse compression, especially with exploitation of the LEAF fiber, is presented. A 10‐Gbps clock pulse recovery is induced by injecting optical NRZ data stream into a semiconductor‐optical‐amplifier‐based fiber ring. The recovered return‐to‐zero clock pulse is further compressed by means of both the dispersion‐compensation to 5.6 ps and the LEAF‐ based soliton compression to 540 fs. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
